3 Different Ways to Incorporate Crochet into Your Gift Wrapping
By Caissa "Cami" McClinton – 2 CommentsIt’s not what you think! We know that crochet makes great little gift and treat bags, but this post is about other ways that crochet can be incorporated into your gift wrapping. For the purpose of this post, imagine a basic gift box which will be wrapped with paper. We’ll use crochet to embellish!
Since time is ticking down, we may have to resort to buying our Christmas gifts, but we can still incorporate crochet into the gift giving. 😀
Accent Natural Gift Wrap with Crocheted Chains. Rustic and natural gift wrapping like brown paper bags and homemade papers are especially on trend this winter. To amp up the folksy feeling, crochet a very long chain of wool, alpaca, or cotton and then wrap it around your box two times each way in lieu of ribbon. The textured effect is beautiful and the crochet magic makes it personal.
Place Glittery Bands on Metallic Boxes. Foil or metallic wrapped gifts are a perennial favorite. Double the shine by crocheting 1†or 2†wide strips in a favorite sparkly yarn that perfectly fit around your gift box. The effect is gorgeous and the homemade strips can be used year after year.
Add a Crocheted Ornament Instead of (or in Addition to) a Bow. A Christmas ornament makes a beautiful addition to the outside of a gift box. A homemade crochet ornament is certainly the best kind! 🙂 The bonus is that it’s an extra gift! Try the Trellis Christmas Ornament, Stuffed Christmas Tree Ornament, Christmas Character Ball Ornaments, Christmas Ball Ornament, or the Classic Christmas Ornament Set.
What are your favorite ways to incorporate crochet into your gift wrapping? Don’t forget, these tips will work on any gift packages, not just Christmas presents!
This is a really good idea! It can (and will) look a lot nicer and make the gift look more unusual and compelling. Can’t wait to replace all my gift-wrapping-ribbons with these things. (:
Thank you very much! This will be my fitst year gift wrapping with crochet, too! I’ve done a few so far and they look great! 🙂
