And who wouldn’t like the idea of making their own scrubbers, made of 100% acrylic (read:ridiculously cheap) yarn, and save the environment all at the same time? It can be used with or without detergent, too, so it not just helps save the environment, but gives your everyday budget a break, too.

Crochet Pattern: Optical Illusion Tawashi
Round 1: With Main Color (MC), make an adjustable magic ring, ch 3 (counts as 1 dc here and throughout), 5 dc into ring, change to Contrast Color (CC), 6 dc into ring: 12 dc
Round 2: ch 3, dc in first stitch, 2 dc in each of next 5 dc, change to MC, 2 dc in each of next 6 dc: 24 dc
Round 3: ch 3, dc in first stitch, dc in next dc, (2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc) 5 times, change to CC, (2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc) 6 times: 36 dc
Round 4: ch 3, dc in first stitch, dc in next 2 dc, (2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc) 5 times, change to MC, (2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc) 6 times: 48 dc
Round 5: ch 1 (does not count as stitch), sc in next 3 dc, (ch 3, sc in next 3 dc) 15 times, ch 4, tr on top of first sc of the round.
Finish off and weave in ends.

Okay the only question I have is on round 2: 2 dc in each of next 5 dc, change to MC, 2 dc in each of next 6 dc: 24 dc now does this mean the next 5 double crochets then change to main color. I am just a little lost or confused
Hi faith, we begin increasing the stitch count in round 2. The beginning chain-3 counts as a dc, and another dc is made in the same stitch. The rest of the round is made with 2 dc in each dc of the previous row. We change colors after making 12 dc (counting that beginning chain-3!), and then continue the round, making 2 dc in each of the dc from the previous row. Hope that helps.
