Crochet Video Tutorials?
By Rachel Choi – 7 CommentsI’ve gotten quite a few request to make crochet video tutorials. I think that crochet videos will be a great addition to Crochet Spot! Even though there are some on the net already there is always room for more.
My one problem is that I don’t have a video camera or any money to purchase one at this time. So I decided to raise some funds by selling a few crochet patterns on Etsy or even make a “Store” page right here on Crochet Spot. Don’t worry, I still plan to have great patterns for free too. Right now I’m trying to come up with some ideas for sell-able patterns. I’ll let you all know how it comes along and if you have any suggestions that would be awesome! |
I can’t wait to get that video camera (and maybe some yarn) and make something with it! This is going to be very exciting!!! Time to start saving some money.
Hey, video tutorial would be great! Hmmm….etsy is a good idea, I have some friends that sell on there. I might be to sometime in near future. Have you thought about selling in a local craft fair? It’s a lot of work, but it pays off. Although you’re probably trying for something faster. I just use a digital camera on the video setting. If you have a large enough memory chip you can take a 1 minute movie, and that’s plenty for what I do. Just a thought 🙂
Hey em! I haven’t thought of selling at craft fairs. I actually never been to one. Thanks for the idea, I will look into it!
The best way to start making $ with crafts is to find a niche that both means something to you, as well as provides a recognisable group who would want to buy your items. ie- perhaps you like making scarves, a group who might be interested in these might be schools who want these in their school colors….if socks are your thing- perhaps hockey players want these in their team colors. Im not suggesting you make either socks or scarves, this is just an example. The best of luck to you, I hope this helps.
Hi Rachel! Have you thought about a webcam? There are some out there that you can record onto your computer and only cost about $30. Just a thought!
Hey Connie! Hey Sue!
Thank you both for the suggestions!! 🙂
I think crochet videos would be a great idea. Etsy would be a great way to earn money for a webcam. After procrastinating for a while, I finally opened up an etsy website yesterday. I am new at it, but if you decide to open a shop up and need any help, let me know!
I also agree with the others, that you can get digital cameras now that make great videos, if you can buy a tripod with it, you could test self-videoing. If that did not work, I am sure you can find someone to take your video as you teach crocheting.
Good Luck and I look forward to seeing you in the future!
Michelle
Hey Michelle!
Thanks for the insight! I will definitely let you know if I need help with etsy. I always go on there to browse, but I haven’t played with setting up a store yet.
