Crochet Pattern: Barbie Doll Summer Outfit

This is a unique red and white outfit that you can give to a little girl for her Barbie doll (or other fashion doll) to wear in the summer that any girl will love! The outfit is made in two pieces, a top jacket and a bottom skirt. Feel free to use any two of your favorite colors to make this fun outfit.
Finished Size: 2†(5 cm) across top, 2 1/2†(6.5 cm) skirt |
Materials: Light Weight Yarn (small amount of each color) Crochet Hook F (3.75 mm) 1 Rubber band that fits around the doll’s waist |
Gauge: 5 sts = 1’’

Crochet Pattern: Barbie Doll Summer Outfit
Skirt
Round 1: with color A (white in photo) 30 sc in rubber band: 30 sc
Note: Rubber band should now be completely covered
Round 2 – 5: sc in each sc around
Round 6: change to color B (red in photo), (sc2tog, sc in next 4 sc) around: 25 sc
Round 7: (sc2tog, sc in next 3 sc) around: 20 sc
Round 8 – 10: sc in each sc around
Round 11: 2 sc in each sc around: 40 sc
Round 12: sc2tog around: 20 sc
Finish off.
Top/Jacket
Round 1: with color B, ch 21, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across, turn: 20 sc
Round 2: ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn: 20 sc
Round 3: ch 1, sc in next 6 sc, ch 5, skip 1 sc, sc in next 6 sc, ch 5, skip 1 sc, sc in next 6 sc, turn: 18 sc, 10 ch
Round 4: ch 1, sc in each st across, finish off: 28 sc
Round 5: With color A, sc in 3rd sc from edge of round 4, 4 sc in next sc, sl in next sc, finish off: 5 sc, 1 sl st
Repeat round 5 for the other edge of round 4.
To join jacket sew on a button or tie tassels.

The Barbie Doll Summer Outfit is really nice but I have been unable to complete the top as the instructions are missing Round 4…
Hi Carole, I think it’s a typo in the pattern. Round 4 should be the next round, which was written as round 5.
Does this mean that you do a sc in each of the 10 chains to get the 28 sc at the end of this round 5?
Yes, you’ll make a sc into all of the stitches, including the 10 chains.
