Crochet Pattern: Beaded Bangles

By Amy Yarbrough – 14 Comments
Essentially, this is a pattern for covering a bracelet with crochet. I used parts from an automotive (my Dad’s a mechanic) but you can use a plain bracelet from the craft store. The stitch count my vary, especially if you choose a band that is smaller in diameter than mine, but the basic idea is to single crochet around the band until you are satisfied, adding your choice of beads at even intervals. Have fun! Beaded Bangles

Skill Level:

Finished Size: 3.5″ (8.8cm) diameter

Materials:
Super Fine Weight yarn (approximately 12 yards)
Crochet Hook F (3.75 mm)

Gauge:
4 sc = 1’’
5 rows = 1’’
Gauge Swatch: 1’’w x 1’’h (2.5 cm x 2.5 cm) ch 5.
Row 1: sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across: 4 sc
Row 2 – 5: ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across: 4 sc

You list “automotive” as your source for the bangles. What automotive? Specifically, what do we call that part when looking for it at the local auto supply?Sounds like it might be cheaper than bangles and I would at least like to try them.

    • They are exhaust rings. My Dad got them directly from the vehicles, already used, so I wouldn’t know if you could find them at a typical auto store. As for the price, I wouldn’t know that either. You might find them online if you can’t find them in a store.

      Hope this has been helpful!

You could also use a dead glowstick as a base, then you have re-used and made something pretty 🙂
