yay! im gonna be using these for so many things im making for my nephew. hes OBSESSED with fishies! i made a big stuffie of a fish which he LOVED. he screams and yells for it, and giggles when it kisses him :] (hes 9 months old :])
I made one of these ADORABLE fishies but it turned out more of an oval shape than a circle. Is there something I may not be doing?
Hey Tasha!
It is suppose to be an oval shape with a tail sticking out.
Okay! Thanks! 🙂
Sweet fish!Thanks!!
How cute!
So cute! I made this earlier and before I could weave in the ends my 4 year old claimed it. =) I’m sure I’ll be making LOTS more in different colors. Thanks for the pattern, it was very quick and easy to make!
Rachel I don’t know how you keep coming up with creations to crochet.
I love them! This fishy is simply adorable! My imagination has gone into overdrive with this one. THANK YOU for sharing as you do. I enjoy every news letter I receive. Especially the free stuff 🙂
Rachel, these are adorable! You sure come up with some great stuff!
Awww very cute! Reminds me of the goldfish crackers 🙂
Hey Rachel I really love this cute fishy but I am having trouble understanding this part of the pattern:
working into opposite side of chain into remaining loops
Please help me =)
Thank You So Much
Jo Annie
to work into the opposite side of the foundation chain, you are going to turn your work (upside down) so that your next stitch will go into the same chain that you made your previous stitch into, but using the remaining loops of the chain that are on the other side. This is sort of like working in a circle. Your last stitch will be close to the first stitch you made in the round
this is so cute I will put this on my long list of items
Thank you Rachel, I am gonna attempt this again and see how I fare. You are the bestest.
Best Regards, Jo Annie
Hi, Rachel!
Your website is great. I love the little “embellishments” you create. How about a bunny, a dog, cat, etc. Little kids love “critters” and I would like to put them on some of the little kid clothes I make. Keep up the good work! Hope you sell lots of patterns.
hello’
the goldfish bookmark is very beautifull but i did not understand how i make the tail of the goldfish in the instructions. can you help me?
thank you i love your website.
The goldfish is made using the goldfish applique crochet pattern. The tail is made in round 2 where it says “ch 3, turn, 2 dc in next st, finish off.” This means that you are going to chain 3, then make 2 double crochets in the the next stitch, then you are done.
Hi Rachel,
I can’t figure out the tail either. When you say “then make 2 double crochets in the the next stitch” – Which stitch is the “next stitch”? :S… every time I try to make the tail it turns into a weird bump at the end of a perfect fish body 🙁
Hi Helen, the next stitch is the slip stitch (the last stitch you made on round 1). After you ch 3, then turn, that will be the next stitch to work into.
Thank you so much for clearing that up for me!
Thank you for this goldfish pattern! It inspired me to make my own for a baby boy sun hat. I changed it up a bit, though, and credited you on my blog! Thanks again!
What does hdc stand for?
Hi Val,
hdc stands for half double crochet. Here’s the tutorial if you need it: http://www.crochetspot.com/how-to-crochet-half-double-crochet-stitches-hdc/
