Spring into Summer Crochet Along

By Rachel Choi – 23 Comments

Who’s ready for another fun crochet along??? If you’ve never participated in a crochet along before, no worries, it is packed full of fun and all are welcomed to join! The theme of this crochet along is quick and easy projects for spring and summer. During the warmer weather I really enjoying making a bunch of small items, which is what we’ll be doing in this crochet along! This crochet along will be slightly different then previous ones. Here is how this one is going to work…

  • Each week I’ll post 3 crochet patterns. You will pick your favorite pattern and crochet it! Of course you can crochet more than one pattern if you’d like. They will be small spring/summer themed patterns that you can crochet really quick.
  • Email me ([email protected]) a photo of your finished item and I’ll upload it onto the site for everyone to see. Or you can share a link to your photo in the comments section.
  • Just for fun, at the end of the crochet along a winner will be randomly selected from the photos submitted and will get a special prize.
  • The crochet along starts right now and will last for 4 weeks. So be sure to bookmark this page and come back every week! I’ll send reminders out in the weekly newsletter and also on Facebook, just in case.
  • Below are the first set of patterns, so let’s get started!!!

WEEK 1
Choose 1 of the 3 crochet patterns to crochet, or crochet them all! Click on the pattern’s title to go to its pattern’s page.

Crochet Pattern: Fast Flower Bookmark: This is a super quick crochet pattern that uses primarily chains. It is a beginner level pattern that can be crocheted by everyone. You can crochet a bunch of these bookmarks in no time!

Crochet Pattern: Pretty Pretty Bow: I love these bows!!! They can be used for so many things – use them as appliques on other projects, or put a clip on the back and put them in your hair. In this pattern you’ll make a simple rectangle with single crochets, then shape it into a bow with extra yarn.

Crochet Pattern: Cool Coaster: This coaster pattern is quick to work up and can be made in a bunch of colors to make a unique set. The shell edging gives it a nice flower look for spring and summer. Choose colors to match your home decor!

Feel free to email your picture of your crochet item to me ([email protected]) and I’ll show it off for you! Or you can post a link to your picture in the comments below. If you need help while crocheting, also feel free to leave a comment below and I’ll be sure to help.

Crochet Pattern: Cora Earrings: These earrings are crocheted in only 3 rounds. The fun shape of these earrings is a great addition to any spring or summer outfit! Crochet them in fun, bright colors to go without your outfits.

Crochet Pattern: Absolutely Fast Dishcloth: You can never have enough crochet dishcloths! They can be used for almost any cleaning purposed, not just dishes. This dishcloth is made in the round from the center out with treble crochet stitches! Treble crochet stitches are nice and big to make this dishcloth almost mesh like.

Crochet Pattern: Water Bottle Holder
: This holder is fast to crochet and will fit most water bottles, since it stretches. The netted pattern keeps your water bottle holder as light as possible while still have a solid bottom. Wear is around your neck or over your should like a bag.

WEEK 3

Crochet Pattern: Drawstring Pouch: This pattern was just posted on the site last week, so if you already started on one of these pouches, you’re ahead of the game! This pouch is made with single crochet stitches, so it probably isn’t as quick to crochet as other patterns in the CAL so far, but is definitely worth making.

Crochet Pattern: All Purpose Scrubbie: Here is a scrubbie that is soft enough to shower and wash your face with and still tough enough to clean dirty pots and pans. I wouldn’t recommend using it for all of these at one time, so be sure to make enough to go around. No matter if you are a beginner or an advanced crocheter here is a pattern you can enjoy.

Crochet Pattern: Aloha Flower Anklet: Okay, this is deigned to be an anklet, but you can also use to as a bracelet, necklace or headband! These are easy to make and if you happen to want them as a bracelet or necklace just add or subtract a flower. Let your imagination wonder when crocheting this pattern.

Feel free to email your picture of your crochet item to me ([email protected]) and I’ll show it off for you! Or you can post a link to your picture in the comments below. If you need help while crocheting, also feel free to leave a comment below and I’ll be sure to help.

WEEK 4
This is the last week of the CAL! Choose 1 of the 3 crochet patterns to crochet, or crochet them all! Click on the pattern’s title to go to its pattern’s page.

Crochet Pattern: Facial Cleaning Pads: Why use cotton balls and disposable facial cleaning pads when you can crochet them? Save money and prevent excess waste by crocheting a bunch of these facial cleaning pads. They can be used just like regular cleaning pads that you buy in the store.

Crochet Pattern: S’more: Start off by making two graham crackers, and then add a piece of chocolate. Finish off with the cutest marshmallow ever. This s’more can make a great addition to any kid’s play food set.

Crochet Pattern: Flower Hair Pin: This flower is so easy and simple to crochet but it can be used a million ways. I love the fact that they can be made in little time and yet these simple appliques can really spice up anything their applied to.

Feel free to email your picture of your crochet item to me ([email protected]) and I’ll show it off for you! Or you can post a link to your picture in the comments below. If you need help while crocheting, also feel free to leave a comment below and I’ll be sure to help.

I’ll make the flower bookmark. I am making time to read more this summer, and the flower will be cute hanging out of my book. Thanks for the pattern.

This will be my first crochet along. I’m pretty excited. I think I’ll do the flower bookmark and the bow. I can’t wait to see how they turn out!

  4. Annelie says:

Such a great idea! I have never taken part in a “cal” before, because I have only found “huge project” like blankets and things like that, and that´s been feeling like “too much” for me.
But this seems like just perfect! Small, fun and useful things that I can finish! 🙂 Thank you, I will try to remember to look back here often 🙂

  5. Calitoe says:

I’ve been wanting to participate in one of the CALs organised by CrochetSpot for a while but I never found the moment until a moment ago. In just a few minutes I crocheted a couple of the beautiful coasters you propose using Limol Trama Rústica yarn (two colour mix).

    Thanks. 🙂

  6. Emma says:

Oh, this is great! My husband and I were wanting a little bag or tote of some sort to carry our water bottles when we go out! In FL it’s really hot, and it doesn’t pay to leave the house without a bottle of water. This pattern is PERFECT for our needs! Can’t wait to start! I

  7. carolyn says:

Will this project end up being crocheted together like our last one? That was fun!

    • Rachel Choi says:

Hi Carolyn! No, this CAL is a bit different. Each week I post 3 quick crochet patterns and you get to choose which one you want to crochet! All the little patterns are spring and summer themed.

  8. Janette says:

I so enjoy coming and looking at the work of others.everything is so pretty….Nice work ladies and thanks Rachel for these patterns….

  9. Emma says:

I think the anklets are so cute! But…I’m a bit out of the loop these days (old age, you know) and am not sure what to do to put them on my ankle. Just tie a bow or …what? Yeah. Sometimes the lights are on but nobody’s home. Sigh. I was thinking about making enough flowers I could just make a circle of them and join them…and just slide it over my foot kind of a like a sock. Or would that work? Also love the little pouch. Curious..the scrubbie looks like the yarn might be doubled…is it? It doesn’t say in the pattern. 🙂

    • Rachel Choi says:

      Hi Emma!
Yes, you can tie a knot or bow with the string. I like your idea of adding more flowers and slipping it over your foot. I think that would work too!
For the scrubbie, the yarn isn’t doubled. The yarn used in the photo was yarn that already had 2 colors twisted together in it. But if you wanted to double to yarn, you can do that too 🙂

  10. Emma says:

    Awesome! Thanks, Rachel!

  11. Maria says:

Hi, I’m a little late in joining but I’m here now! I’m so excited about the little projects that are not too overly complicated:) I have my eye on several projects but I may be brave and maybe do more than one from each week. We shall see!!!! The anklet is soooooooooo adorable I’m gonna make it into a headband for my baby girl

  12. Emma says:

Well…so far I can attest that both the dishcloth and the scrubbies work GREAT! And I love the coasters, which are much prettier than the ones I was making and planning to give my daughter and Christmas (in a little wooden “dish” my husband is making for them). The bookmark is in my Bible, and my husband and I use the bottle holders every time we go out on errands and we love them! As for the pouch? Currently it holds my craft/arthritis gloves and looks lovely on the table with my crocheted apple pin cushion! This is great…can’t wait to see what next week’s goodies will be! (meanwhile I continue to work on scrubbies, dishcloths and coasters between my bigger projects!)

  13. Janette says:

I just want to thank you Rachel for this Springtime CAL because of it I have patterns for Christmas gifts for this year….I love the scrubbies and the bottle holder and will be making lots and lots of those for Christmas…

I have thoroughly enjoyed this CAL and look forward to the next one….

  14. Erin says:

I enjoy seeing all the pictures. The little smore is cute.
