Crochet Pattern: Sweet Little Heart Ornament

This sweet little heart pattern consists of some basic amigurumi shaping techniques. It take so little time to make that you will have a whole handful before you know it. Perfect for Valentine’s decorating or gift giving. Enjoy! |

| Materials: Super Fine Weight Yarn (approximately 20 yards) Crochet hook D (3.25 mm) Polyester Fiberfill Jump ring Ribbon |

Gauge:
5 sc = 1’’
5 rows = 1’’
Gauge Swatch: 1’’w x 1’’h (2.5 cm x 2.5 cm) ch 6.
Row 1: sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across: 5 sc
Row 2 – 5: ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across: 5 sc

Crochet Pattern: Sweet Heart Ornament
Round 1: make an adjustable ring, ch 1, 4 sc in ring, sl st in first sc: 4 sc
Round 2: ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around, sl st in first sc: 8 sc
Round 3: ch 1, *2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc, repeat from * around, sl st in first sc: 12 sc

Stuff heart loosely with fiberfill.
Round 15: ch 1, sc2tog two rows down, sc in next st, sc3tog, sc in next st, sc2tog two rows down, sc in next st, sc3tog, sc in last st, sl st in first sc: 8 sts
Sew opening together and pull to tighten. Thread yarn tail down through center of heart and out the bottom. Tug to shape heart. Finish off.
Attach jump ring to top of heart and thread ribbon through.

In Round 11 when you say to sc in next sc on row down are you working in the front of the heart or working over the stitches in Round 10? Also are you skipping a stitch? I seem to have a different stitch count at the end of the row.

Instead of sc into the next sc, you are going to be working it into the sc below that one, in Round 10. So you aren’t skipping a stitch since you are still working one in that area.

No as you don’t say if you are working in front of or around round 10. Also it seems as if it is coming out uneven. I tried various ways of doing it and I still did not have the same number of stitches as you do. Thank you for your help. I don’t know what I am doing wrong. I hope I can get the heart finished. It is so cute.
I may have confused you. Let me try again.
You will be skipping the next sc and instead single crocheting into the space below which will actually be Round 9. Then you will proceed by working the next sc and following stitches from Round 11 into Round 10 as usual.
Have you checked to see if the number of stitches on the previous row are correct? This can make a world of difference.
I did indeed count my stitches. I guess I am on my own. I will try something and see if I can finish it. It just seems funny that the first stitch dropped down is by the increase in the prior row and the next one is in the middle of the front of the heart.
I love that little sweet heart ornament, that would be good for any left over yarn to use it up. Or maybe it would even be good to use Christmas color yarn for a nice Christmas gift. Thanks so much for sharing.
