Tunisian Crochet Abbreviations
By Candace – 3 CommentsIn addition to regular crochet patterns, Crochet Spot is home to many Tunisian (also known as Afghan) crochet patterns. Tunisian crochet is a technique that requires you to work stitches that remain on your (longer than usual) hook until you reach the end of your row then work them off in the opposite direction to finish them. In a way, it’s similar to knitting, and even employs stitches that mimic those used in knitting, but the resulting fabric tends to be thicker.

I ran across a tunisian cable sweater recently and found 2 abbreviations I am unfamiliar with.
The first one is:
Tunisian Twisted Purl Stitch (ttwps):
With yarn in front, insert hook under next horizontal bar, pull back vertical bar to front, yarn over, pull loop through that back vertical bar.
And the second one is: Twisted Purl Stitch (twps) (Out of the two I do not know how to do this one).
I feel as though these should be included above.
Can you tell me what the FwP stands for in crochet?
I’m glad you asked because I had to look it up myself.
FwP means Forward pass and RetP means Return Pass. I’ll have to add those to the chart.
