You want tulle like what bridal veils are made of . Or netting. Should be able to buy tulle by the yard where ever you buy material.

Hi Rachael, I used to crochet 20 years or so ago. I copied down your pattern for the crocheted dish cloth. I do not remember how to decrease although I do have a book with pictures. I will use the book first and then if I need your assistance I will let you know. Thanks for having free patterns and offering assistance. Kathleen L.

  7. Tashia says:

    Kathleen,
‘dc’ = double crochet, not decrease. Hope that you figured it out.

  12. KP says:

Hello. I was trying the dishcloth above, BUT I don’t know what the parts in the parentheses mean. Can you explain those parts? thanks, KP

    • Rachel says:

Hi KP, for row 1 “(ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in next ch) across” means to chain 1, then skip 1 chain, then make a double crochet in the next chain. Since these instructions are within the ( ) you will repeat them until you reach the end.

  13. KP says:

Thank you! The part I needed was that the parentheses meant to REPEAT! Now it’s working beautifully, and I’m almost finished. Thanks so much, KP

  14. Christina says:

Rachel, I don’t mean to be naggy but I’ve recently had the time to attempt to make this. Mine looks NOTHING like this.
