Crochet Pattern: Mesh Overskirt (Girl Sizes 5 – 12)

Posted in Best Crochet Patterns on March 17th, 2013 by Candace – Be the first to comment
There’s a new pattern in the Crochet Spot Store! Layering pieces, such as this overskirt, are great for extending the wardrobe. Make it for your favorite tween girl to jazz up a boring skirt or a tunic and leggings. In the summer, it also makes a good coverup for a swimsuit. The skirt is crocheted in one piece from the waist down. The skirt uses an elastic cord at the waist, but you can use a drawstring instead if desired. This is best made with natural fibers, such as wool or cotton, that will allow it to drape yet can be blocked to keep its shape. crochet mesh overskirt

Crochet Pattern: Heart Pendant

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on February 7th, 2013 by Candace – 14 Comments
You could wear your heart on your sleeve–or you could dangle it from you neck, which is slightly more anatomically correct. If you’d rather not loop a chain through the bail, you can make the final chain long enough to fit around your neck instead. The pendant can also be stiffened with starch. crochet_heart_pendant

Crochet Pattern: Wrap Flower

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on January 31st, 2013 by Candace – 3 Comments
This pattern uses an alternative technique for creating twirls (increasing vertically instead of horizontally) to make a flower. It is simple to make, and the turning chains actually create humps to differentiate the petals. You can work the flower without the stem to make a simple floral brooch or 3-D applique. crochet_wrap_flower

Crochet Pattern: Busy Bee Applique

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on January 26th, 2013 by Candace – 2 Comments
An embellishment inspired by a wish for spring to hurry up and return, this busy little bee can be used alone, or it can pollinate all those crochet flowers you’ve been working on. As a tip, you can carry the yarn as you work to minimize the number of ends to weave in at the end. crochet_busy_bee

What a cute way to keep track of crayons! This case can hold 20 standard-sized crayons with room for a few more if you need it. The top part is made to be the same size as the bottom for a snug fit. If you would like to make it more portable, you can chain a strap and attach it to the base. crochet_crayon_case

Crochet Pattern: Half-Round Mini Bag

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on January 9th, 2013 by Candace – 5 Comments
This mini bag is worked both in the round and flat with no sewing necessary for the body. It’s great for stashing a few bills and a tube of lip gloss or, if you install a zipper, loose change. Feel free to line the mini bag if desired, but you really don’t need to unless you plan to store really small objects in it. crochet_half_round_mini_bag
