By Rachel Choi – 150 Comments
Thanks to Rebecca, a Crochet Spot reader, we have the book Teach Yourself Visually Crochet to giveaway! Rebecca loves this book and claims that it did a great job helping her learn to crochet. Her goal is to spread more “crochet joy” and help others to learn this fabulous art form. She donated a brand new copy of this book to Crochet Spot so that it can be given away to a Crochet Spot reader who would like to learn how to crochet or improve his/her crochet skills. Even though this book is great for beginners it is also a great reference guide for those who already know how to crochet the basics.

To enter the giveaway, please visit the Teach Yourself Visually Crochet page on Amazon and click on the “Click to Look Inside” picture. Look inside the book to see what you are most interested in learning. Then leave a comment at the end of this giveaway post stating what you’re most interested in learning. Please stay on subject and only comment one time, multiple comments will be deleted.

All participants must be either a Crochet Spot Newsletter subscriber or a Premium Pattern Member at the time the winner is drawn. If you are neither, feel free to sign up for the newsletter or a membership.

Giveaway ends on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 11:59PM EST, where a winner will be randomly drawn.

Good luck everyone and thanks again Rebecca for donating the book for the giveaway!

  24. Miranda says:

The first thing I would like to learn is how to estimate how much yarn I need for a project, either because I’m winging it or because the pattern I am looking at only tells you how much of their brand’s yarn to use! So frustrating! This would also be helpful when I’m changing patterns by using different hook sizes or weights of yarn.

The other thing I would really like to learn is how to do a lover’s knot, because I have this great pattern but I just can’t do it!! lol

I’ve watched practically every YouTube video that explains gauge and I still don’t understand, so hopefully this book can clear things up a bit.

I would also like to learn different stitches so that when I finally learn how to follow patterns, I can use new stitches. 🙂

I would love to learn some of the things in the later chapters and brush up on the basics. I learned to crochet when I was very young, and then didn’t for a number of years – so even though I consider myself a pretty advanced crocheter, I sometimes need to brush up on the fundamentals. I also have been teaching some of my friends to crochet and this would be a great resource!

  44. I am an experienced and skilled crocheter and designer so looking through the table of contents most of the info there I already know. However it still looks like it may be a good reference book, for advance tunisian stitches. I have afghan crochet hooks (the long crochet hooks that resemble knitting needles), but can’t remember the last time I used one.
