Crochet Pattern: Susie Bear Applique

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on August 20th, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – 6 Comments
Bears are some of the most popular animals to emulate. The “teddy bear” was first created in the 20th century when a cartoonist depicted an incident with President Theodore Roosevelt and an American Black Bear. Since then, stuffed bears have changed in design greatly, but they are still the epitome of a stuffed toy. This latest design follows in others footsteps. It is a bear applique made with easy crochet stitches in a simple design. The embellishments that create the bears features are made up of the easiest embroidery stitches. Cut out a flower from felt, or choose your own hairpiece, for the finishing touch. Susie Bear Applique

Crochet Pattern: Hedgehog Potholder

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on August 13th, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – 2 Comments
If I’ve said it once… I’ll have to say it again. Hedgehogs are too cute! Their rotund bodies, spiky fur, and little pointy noses all add up to one adorable creature. Recently I was shopping at a craft store, and while browsing the fall decorations, I found many great hedgehog things. It seems this year, hedgehogs are in! So I’ve added my own special project to the mix. This potholder is made using fairly simple instructions and basic crochet techniques. Hang it on your wall for decoration, use it in your kitchen, or give it to a friend. Be sure to let me know what you think! Hedgehog Potholder

A few days ago Cami posted an article featuring a handful of back-to-school projects from right here on Crochet Spot (click here to read it for yourself). I would like to introduce to you another project perfect for those school accessories, the Cherry Blossoms Binder Cover. The cover itself is very simple and made up solely of rows of single crochet. The design on the front is made up of surface crochet and embroidered french knots, both easy to do and very fun. Cherry Blossoms Binder Cover

Crochet Pattern: Pineapple Upside-Down Earrings

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on July 16th, 2015 by Candace – 2 Comments
These earrings may not be the traditional Fibonacci-based crochet pineapples, but looking at the finished project made me crave fruit. They’re a quick and fun project you can do in many “flavors” of yarn and beads. The number of beads give the earrings some weight, but they’re still quite light and easy to wear. crochet_pineapple_upside-down_earrings

Crochet Pattern: Doll Pioneer Bonnet

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on July 9th, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – 8 Comments
Are you one of those people that have always loved the pioneer lifestyle – bonnets, stretches of prairie, covered wagons, cooking over a campfire, and sleeping under the stars? Maybe you’re not. Maybe the pioneer life sounds hard, dusty and just plain exhausting. You’d probably be right but who can deny the adventurer inside? Braving the unknown, starting anew, living off the land. It’s fun to think about any way. But there doesn’t have to be any “braving the unknown” with this doll’s bonnet. It’s easy and works up quickly. Add it to the rest of the crocheted doll clothing repertoire! Doll Pioneer Bonnet

Crochet Pattern: Jungle Rhythm Baby Blanket

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on July 2nd, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – 26 Comments
Designing a new baby blanket is a lot of fun. I like to customize them specifically for the little one that is going to receive it. I created this one with my little niece in mind — bright colors to catch her eye, soft to the touch but with lots of texture. Normally, I design them in neutral colors in case the mother would like to use it for multiple children, or if the parents do not yet know the gender of the child. Whichever you choose to do, I hope you enjoy making this blanket. I can guarantee the recipient of yours will be just as pleased as my niece will be with the one I made! Jungle Rhythm Baby Blanket

Crochet Pattern: Frilled Doll Apron

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on June 25th, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – 1 Comment
Do you remember those lovely, untouchable dolls? The ones with the tight curls, powdered cheeks, bright eyes, and old-fashioned wardrobe? I received my very own porcelain doll as a gift one year and on occasion I couldn’t resist taking her out to straighten her hair or dress. What attracted me most to these delicate dolls was their old-fashioned outfits made of satin and lace frills. This dolls apron brings back the old days where an apron was a must for cooking and cleaning of any kind. Made with light weight yarn and using simple crochet techniques, you can work this apron up in a jiffy. Frilly Doll Apron

Crochet Pattern: Dish Soap Apron

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on June 18th, 2015 by Amy Yarbrough – 8 Comments
Here is a crochet pattern requested by a Crochet Spot reader! Why should crocheting for the kitchen stop with towels and wash rags? Customize your soap bottles too! This dish soap apron is rather simple and easy to make. I used a cotton yarn, which is always a good idea for the kitchen, and began with some simple designs. If your favorite kitchen soap happens to be a little shorter than this one, simply leave off a few rows at the beginning. I hope you enjoy it! Dish Soap Apron
