Crochet Pattern: Spring Flower Earrings

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on March 20th, 2013 by Amy Yarbrough – 11 Comments
What could be better than a pair of bright-looking spring earrings to go with that new spring dress? In my opinion, jewelry needs to look delicate and I wondered if it was possible to make yarn earrings look delicate. Even though since then I have found yarn to be an excellent choice, switching to crochet thread will guarantee that delicacy. Spring Flower Earrings

St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner. If you’d like to add a touch of emerald green to your wardrobe then crochet this quick and easy headband. The shamrock appliqué adds the perfect finishing touch to any emerald isle inspired outfit you might throw on for the holiday. This pattern is also great for children’s clothing or hair accessories. Don’t limit yourself to just the headband, you could make hairpins too. Simply crochet the shamrock, sew on the button and then hot glue the appliqué to a bobby pin or hair barrette.

What helps lace flowers grow? The lace sun, of course. This embellishment will look great on your spring and summer projects and bring a little brightness and cheer. The lace pattern is fairly simple and good practice for crocheters ready to branch off into finer work. crochet_lacey_sun_applique

Crochet Pattern: Teddy Bear Applique

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on March 6th, 2013 by Emilee Gettle – 2 Comments
Each week my five year old daughter watches me create a project for Crochet Spot. Oftentimes she is the source of my inspiration. For a couple weeks now she has been begging me to crochet a teddy bear for her. Any kind of teddy bear was her request. So, this week I made this appliqué to add to one of her shirts. She has already put in another request for a pink one next time. This pattern is really easy and can be adjusted several ways. You can change the muzzle color to a slightly darker or lighter shade, add beads or french knots for the eyes. Have fun! You can also find more applique patterns in the Applique Section!

Crochet Pattern: Interchangeable Belt

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on March 2nd, 2013 by Emilee Gettle – 4 Comments
I like to have a variety of belts. If you could see my closet you’d know what I mean. Accessories are one of my favorite things. Isn’t it the same for most girls? This crochet belt pattern is unique in that you can interchange the belt depending on what you are wearing. The example in the photo was made with bulky denim-looking yarn. Thanks to a small button with a shaft on the underside of one end of the belt it can be easily attached or removed from the buckle. It is also a great scrap-saver project. Make a rainbow of belts for the spring season ahead.

Crochet Pattern: Leprechaun Top Hat Applique

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on February 20th, 2013 by Emilee Gettle – 2 Comments
I have always loved St. Patrick’s Day. My mom would make corned beef, sauerkraut, and all the traditional foods for our American way of celebrating our Irish heritage. While the food was delicious it was also a milestone in the year, which meant spring was right around the corner! After a long winter I was always more than ready to see my tulips again. This week I created this Leprechaun Top Hat Appliqué so you can start embellishing your linens or making pins for your friends. This is also a great project for adding a “touch of Irish” to kid’s clothes or hair accessories.

Be prepared for transitional weather with a pair of fingerless mitts for those days that are too warm for gloves, but too cold to go without. These mitts are ribbed at the wrist and the finger openings have a neat picot trim around the opening edge. crochet_take_a_picot_mitts
