Crochet Pattern: Boot Toppers

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on February 12th, 2013 by Emilee Gettle – 5 Comments
It won’t be long and instead of snow we’ll be enjoying spring showers. I have a trusty pair of rubber boots that I love to tromp through the spring puddles in. I often where them to town or in the garden. When I wear them all day long the hard rubber can rub on my shins. So, I crocheted these boot toppers to cushion my shins and for a chic update to my rubber boots. This project can be made in about an hour or less and it’s a great way to use up extra yarn. It’s also a great project for beginners. Make several in a rainbow of colors to suit your moods.

Crochet Pattern: Heart Pendant

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on February 7th, 2013 by Candace – 14 Comments
You could wear your heart on your sleeve–or you could dangle it from you neck, which is slightly more anatomically correct. If you’d rather not loop a chain through the bail, you can make the final chain long enough to fit around your neck instead. The pendant can also be stiffened with starch. crochet_heart_pendant

Crochet Pattern: Wrap Flower

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on January 31st, 2013 by Candace – 3 Comments
This pattern uses an alternative technique for creating twirls (increasing vertically instead of horizontally) to make a flower. It is simple to make, and the turning chains actually create humps to differentiate the petals. You can work the flower without the stem to make a simple floral brooch or 3-D applique. crochet_wrap_flower

Crochet Pattern: Lace and Ribbon Headband

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on January 29th, 2013 by Emilee Gettle – 5 Comments
There are so many cute hair accessories in the stores now. The prices range from super cheap to out of this world expensive. I enjoy traveling to craft shows where home businesses sell their handmade goods. I’ve seen many takes on the crocheted headband. This pattern is my own twist by making lace and weaving a satin ribbon through it. The ends of the ribbon work perfect for tying on the headband. These crochet up ultra fast and are great for adults and kids alike. Make several while watching TV to sell at craft shows and bazaars in the spring!

An embellishment inspired by a wish for spring to hurry up and return, this busy little bee can be used alone, or it can pollinate all those crochet flowers you’ve been working on. As a tip, you can carry the yarn as you work to minimize the number of ends to weave in at the end. crochet_busy_bee

This bracelet is simply made using a half double crochet stitch. You can easily make it shorter or longer to your preference. This can have different looks using different colors or fibers. I even found that stitched to the wrist of a pair of pre-made gloves gives you a great decorative cuff! Give it a try – it only takes a few minutes! cuff bracelet 013
