It’s that time of year again! Time to pull out all the Christmas decorations from the attic and spruce up your home. Every year I love searching for the perfect wreath for my door. As a special treat, I like taking a walk through the woods and cutting my own greenery. I bring it home and wire wrap it onto a grapevine wreath for an inexpensive but beautiful and welcome sight on our front door. This week I made a Christmas wreath applique, which is a great project when you need a little holiday embellishment quick. You could use it on cards, clothes and linens.

Skill Level:

Finished Size: 1 1/2″ (3 cm) long, 1″ (2.5 cm) wide

Materials: Red Fingering Yarn (approximately 2 yards) Green Fingering Yarn (approximately 2 1/2 yards) Crochet Hook 7 (1.50 mm) Red Thread Needle Scissors

Gauge:
Round 1 in pattern measures 1″ (2.5 cm) in diameter.

Crochet Pattern: Christmas Wreath Applique

Wreath: Make 1
Round 1: with green, ch 12, sl st in first chain made to form a ring, ch 3, 30 dc into ring, sl st in top of beginning ch-3: 30 dc
Finish off.

Bow (make 2)
Row 1: with red, ch 18, sc in second ch from hook each in each ch across: 17 sc
Finish off.

Finishing
Take one piece of the red bow and bring the outer ends to the center and stitch in place to make the bow’s loops. Then, take the other red sc strip and fold in half to create the bow’s tails. In the inside, center of the halved strip, place the bow loops and sew in place. Finally, sew the bow on the wreath.
