thanks for the pattern, my lil sister will love it
I love it ~ I was sitting in bed last night and quickly crocheted four for my husband to use to mark his place in his Bible for his sermon today.
I love this pattern idea; but i am brand new to crocheting and just started trying to read patterns and i am stuck…. i dont know what (ch 6, sc in same ch as previous sc) is telling me to do exactly… I did the ch 7 and the sc, i understand it as – make ch 7, sc in the 1st ch (stop there and make addtnl ch6; and then im lost) i end up w a line and on sc in the middle….
can anyone guide me?
Hi Brandie, after you make the 6 chains, you are going to make a single crochet in the same chain that you make your previous single crochet stitch (the very first chain that you made in the pattern). Each of the “ch 6” will create a loop/petal of the flower. The single crochets are all made into the same chain, which is at the center of the flower. Let me know if you need more help.
This is a super cute pattern! I understand what to do, except I don’t know how to change the color. Can you help?

My daughter and I are new to crocheting. We understand making the flower but are not clear on the correct way to change to green and how to tie off after making the green chain. We do know how to change colors but have never done it in this type of stitch before. I did what I thought would work and made the chain. Now I am wonder the appropriate way to tie off the end of the green chain. If you could advise and be more clear on how to attach green, then how to tie off the green, we would appreciate it. Thanks.
Hi April, here’s a tutorial that shows how to chains colors during the single crochet: How to Change Colors in Crochet To finish off, you can cut the yarn and pull the loose end through (which ends up forming a small knot). Then you can weave the end of the green yarn into the back of the green chain stitches to hide it.
This is so adorable! Can’t wait to make some for my grandchildren! Thanks!!!
I visited here a few months back and made one of these from some yarn scraps I had on hand. It is so cute and useful… and aren’t those the best projects to make? 😀
Thanks for the pattern.
changing to green in last sc made: 5 sc
This is where I get lost. I am using variegated for flower part.

I am not sure how to close the petals of the flower together, before changing color.
I have the 5 petals made and understand how to change colors, but I feel like I’m missing a step in between.
Thanks for any help!!
Hi Angela!
You will finish the last petal by making a single crochet into the same chain as the other single crochets. In that last single crochet, you are going to change the color. Here’s a tutorial if you need it: http://www.crochetspot.com/how-to-change-colors-in-crochet/
