Christmas isn’t complete without a messenger, so crochet an angel to let everyone know the season is upon us. Flat angels can be incorporated into your Christmas decor in many ways–as ornaments, table decor, wreath accents, and more. This angel is made with mesh wings and has a bell-shaped skirt.

Skill Level:

Finished Size: 4 3/4″ (12 cm) tall, 4″ (10 cm) wingspan

Materials: Size 10 thread (approximately 20 yards) Crochet Hook B (2.25 mm)

Gauge:
Rounds 1-3 in pattern measure 1 1/2″ (4 cm) in diameter

Crochet Pattern: Flat Angel
Round 1: make adjustable ring, ch 3, 8 dc in ring, sl st in first dc: 8 dc
Row 2: ch 3, turn, 2 dc in each dc around: 16 dc
Round 3: ch 3, turn, 2 dc in each dc around, ch 4, sl st in first dc: 36 sts
Row 4: ch 3, turn, 2 dc in first dc, 2 dc in each of next 4 ch, 2 dc in next dc: 12 dc
Row 5: ch 3, turn, 2 dc in each of next 3 dc, dc in next 6 dc, 2 dc in each of next 3 dc: 18 dc
Row 6: ch 4, turn, (tr, ch 1) in next 6 dc, ch 1, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in each of next 2 dc, dc in next 2 dc, ch 1, (ch 1, tr) in next 6 dc: 32 sts
Row 7: ch 4, turn, (tr in next tr, ch 1, skip 1 ch) 6 times, ch 1, 2 dc in each of next 8 dc, ch 1, (skip 1 ch, ch 1, tr in next tr) 6 times: 42 sts
Row 8: ch 4, turn, (tr in next tr, ch 1, skip 1 ch) 6 times, ch 1, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 6 dc, 2 dc in each of next 2 dc, dc in next 6 dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 1, (tr in next tr, ch 1, skip 1 ch) 6 times: 46 sts
Row 9: turn, sl st in next 13 sts, ch 3, dc in next 20 dc: 20 dc
Row 10 – 14: ch 3, turn, dc in each dc across: 20 dc
Row 15: turn, (skip 2 dc, [2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc] in next dc, skip 1 dc, sl st in next dc) across: 4 shells
