Crochet Pattern: Lily Pad

For the amphibian fans, here is another motif to add to your collection, straight from the pond. This lily pad motif can be used as an applique, a coaster, or just another addition to frog or pond themed decor.

Skill Level:

Finished Size: 4 1/2″ (11.5 cm) wide, 3 1/2″ (9 cm) tall

Materials:
Medium Weight Yarn (approximately 20 yards)
Crochet Hook H (5 mm)

Gauge:
3 rows = 2″ (5 cm)

Crochet Pattern: Lily Pad
Row 1: Make an adjustable ring, ch 3, 8 dc in ring, turn: 8 dc
Row 2: Ch 3, 3 dc in each of first 2 dc, 2 dc in next 4 dc, 3 dc in each of last 2 dc, turn: 20 dc
Row 3: Ch 3, dc3tog, 2 dc in next 5 dc, dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next 5 dc, dc3tog, turn: 26 dc
Row 4: Ch 3, dc3tog, 2 dc in next 2 dc, dc in next 5 dc, tr in next 2 dc, dc in next 5 dc, 2 dc in next 2 dc, dc3tog
Finish off.

    I would love to see you work this up in a larger size as for a photo prop to put a baby on.

    Candice, I really like your pattern but there is an error in the 4th row. You have only used 22 of the 26 stitches. I filled it in by doing an extended dc, then 4 trcr, 1 extended dc then back to the 2 dc in the next 5 stitches. If you don’t want to do the extended dc, can replace them with triple crochet. The extended double crochet gives a smoother line in the edge.
