Crochet Pattern: Scalloped Camera Pouch

Here’s something to keep your camera (or anything you need quick access to) handy and try your hand at some basic lace work. The body of this camera pouch is simple with a delicate lacy scallop edge. It works up quick and requires no sewing or finishing, so it’s great for on-the-go crocheting.

Skill Level:

Finished Size:
4″ (10 cm) tall, 3 1/4″ (8.5 cm) wide

Materials: Bulky Weight Yarn (50 yards) Crochet Hook K (6.5 mm)

Gauge:
6 dc and 5 rows = 3″ (7.5 cm ) by 2″ (5 cm)

Crochet Pattern: Scalloped Camera Pouch

Round 1: ch 9, sc in bl of second ch from hook, sc in bl of rem ch, sc in fl of last ch, sc in fl of each rem ch, sl st into skipped ch: 16 sc
Rounds 2-6: ch 3, dc in each sc around, sl st into top of beginning ch-3: 16 dc
Round 7: ch 1, 2 sc in each of first 2 sc, sc2tog, (2 sc in each of next 2 sc, sc2tog) around, sl st in beginning ch: 16 sc
Round 8: (Ch 6, sk 3 sc, sl st in next sc) around, sl st in bottom of beginning ch-6: 30 sts

Ch 40, sl st in bottom of beginning ch-6 of row 8.
Finish off.

   Hi,

   Looks like I am stuck on row 7….Not sure I get the directions. As I understand it: 2 single crochet in the first stitch, 2 single crochet in the second stitch. Then single crochet 2 stitches together. Unsure how to do this. Can you help?

   To single crochet two stitches together, you insert hook into the first sc stitch, yarn over, insert hook into next stitch, yarn over, then pull yarn through all the loops on the hook. Hope this helps!

   Sheryl, Collette’s already provided the instructions for the sc2tog, so I won’t repeat that. The entire row is a series of 2 increases followed by a decrease.

   in rows 2-6, does the ch 3 at the beginning count as one of the 16 sc? I always end up with too many stitches.

   What number would I have to increase the beginning chain to in order to make the bag a little bigger?
