Crochet Pattern: Square Pineapple Doily

This doily features four pineapples, one on each side of the square. The openwork stitches are on this doily make a more solid construction compared to other lacy doilies.

Really like this, but must agree w/ Squirrely Girly. A solid color would probably work better. Or maybe a lighter combo – yellow & white, more pineapple-y?

Nice pattern! I think the yarn color is just a matter of preference 🙂
I like the variegated yarn as well but I had trouble seeing the pineapples because of it. I guess if you wanted to show off the stitches more then you can use a solid color, but the variegated yarn is a cool look overall.
I think that it has more to do with it needing to be blocked than the multi-colored yarn.
I’m having trouble locating [#1] fingering weight yarn… would it be alright to use regular crochet thread for this doily? What # thread would work best?
I’m thinking #3 or #10 would work best, but welcome suggestions.
I like the colors in this but agree that a lighter variegated or solid color would show off the pineapples better. All a matter of preference.
