Crochet Pattern: Vintage Glenda Hat (5 Sizes)
By Amy Yarbrough – 6 CommentsTorchy Blane is a fictional character from the 30’s that inspired the Lois Lane character for Superman. Both are avid newspaperwomen who will stop at nothing to get a story. Glenda Farrell plays Torchy Blane in a few of the films of that time, and in it she wears a hat that has, for me, become the symbol of a woman of the press. With this pattern I have sought to replicate that style, complete with an upturned brim and hat band in the form of a long ribbon. All you need to know to crochet this hat are the basics. Enjoy, and let me know what you think in the comments below! |

Hello Tina,
I completely agree, some of the styles from that period were so neat! I’m glad that you like the pattern.
All the best,
Amy
Cute hat! I’m seeing it in a darker color for the Fall.
Me too, Erin! The next one I make will be tan. 🙂
