I recently moved away from my home and into a community where my Grandmother lived and worked. She is not here today and I never had the opportunity to learn crochet from her. I missed out because she could make some amazing things. Now, here I am, trying to reconnect with her through crochet. I am self taught, but I do have to admit I learned how to chain and make a double crochet stitch and that was it. From there I have tried many ways to teach myself, from online and library books. I haven’t bought any books because it’s either be able to afford some yarn or spend $20 or more on a book.

If I had this book, I would study it front to back. There are many new stitches I would like to learn, bullion stitch, pineapple stitch, overlaid chain are just a few I have never ever heard of before. I know I can learn all these stitches and hopefully be one day as great as my Grandmother.

I’d love to learn more shapes and motifs. I’m into flowers right now, and learning anything new to make new and exciting appliques and the like would be great!

  6. Jade says:

I’m into making accessories, flowers, hairbands, bows, purses, etc…some of the stitches I would love to learn how to do is the tr2tog, dc2tog, love knot stitch. I have been looking into making a cool blanket/afghan but I haven’t found the right pattern and when I do the stitch seems a bit difficult at times so I put the pattern away for a later date and then tackle it again when my confidence level is higher and after doing some research on how to do the stitch. I want to also make more things that I can wear. I would love to have this book to look over from front to back and make notes in the margins…I normally don’t like to mark my books but here lately I find myself leaving little notes to myself on scraps of paper that I sometimes misplace so its just easier to mark the book and keep it all referenced in the same place. Thanks Rachel for the opportunity to get a chance for the book.

  7. Sandra says:

I’d go straight for the openwork and lace stitches! Although I have no idea what spike stitches and relief stitches are; obviously I need to improve my education!

Ohhhh, I have wanted this book forever… I haven’t ordered it for two reasons. 1. For a long time amazon did not deliver to my country. 2. Now they do, but I am still volouneering, and have not got a job jet, so, crochet books are not at the top of the buying list at this point…

One of the things I would love to explore more are the Tunisian stitches. I have done some small projects with the basics of this technique and that has left me wanting for more…

    Thanks!
