Crocheting for Thanksgiving?
By Rachel Choi – 22 CommentsDoes anyone every crochet anything for Thanksgiving or do you skip right to Christmas? Or if you celebrate neither, is there a holiday you like to crochet for around this time of the year?
I’m asking, become I’m working on a few patterns, and was wondering what you would like to see. Anything holiday related? Perhaps some fun decor for the holidays or more gifts to put under the tree?
Let me know what you’re crocheting or would like to crochet for the holidays!
I’d love to see some Thanksgiving crochet patterns! I’ve been wanting to decorate for turkey day but I just don’t have anything!
I love crocheting for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day! I’ve made a turkey and some pumpkins for Rhanksgiving. And have made a lot of Christmas ornaments.
I would love to have some easy patterns for christmas ornaments..lane what kind of patterns do you have for christmas ornaments??
Rachel,
Are you gonna crochet Christmas ornaments for the tree this year??
Most likely will crochet ornaments again this year Jackie! I’ll have to think of new designs that are different from the Christmas ornament/appliques from last year
Hi, I just found your site. Joined, of course. I have pumpkins in three sizes and three different colors; fall colors. The stems are small pieces of old dried branches from around here. Of course they are crocheted. They are out all year and sit in a brown bag basket I made years ago. It is woven. The leaves are printed front and back from the computer, laminated with wire in the middle and stuck close to the branch. I would love to have the crochet pattern for a realistic turkey. Is there such a thing? I do realize just about anything could be Thanksgiving if you use fall colors. Thanks
Hi Jackie, I know I have an angel pattern I made and at least a few more. I will have to dig through my patterns to see if I can find them.
Oh thank you lane…That would be nice of you to share patterns with everyone..
Rachel I know you will come up with new designs..Your great!! Will be looking forward to your new patterns..
I haven’t crocheted for either before, but I’m currently crocheting a little Christmas Tree. I would like to find a few Thanksgiving decor patterns, but haven’t looked too in depth yet, perhaps for next year.
They are really fun to crochet for! Maybe Turkey Coasters, pilgrim and native American amigurumi, leaves, leaves, and more leaves (as napkin rings, placemats, decorative pins, ect.)
Table decorations and centerpieces for both Thanksgiving and Christmas would be awesome! Both are celebrated with family and food in a big way!
Thanks in advance!
I crochet pieces of pumpkin pie and scent the stuffing with pumpkin spice oil. I’ve also made pumpkin pie coasters.
Welcome Jackie ….
Rachel , it would be nice to see aprons , tablecloths , placemats etc .. for fall/ Thanksgiving . I love the ideas that have been shared here, thanks ….. I do decorate using fall colors but don’t really use turkeys, like to keep them from Halloween-Thanksgiving.
I would love to crochet the Nativity.
I haven’t crocheted anything specifically for Thanksgiving before, but I have crocheted a cornucopia with little stuffed crocheted fruits and veggies to fill it up with. My kids play with them in their “kitchen”.
Ditto what Linda said. I’ve been looking for a nativity set to crochet. I can’t find anything that’s quite my taste – everything out there seems too fancy and guilded!
Year ago, I crocheted a turkey coaster that was also a napkin ring/holder. You slipped the napkin through the waddle of the turkey and your glass was suppose to rest above on his head. He was really cute and had a lot of color changes. I made enough for my mom’s Thanksgiving table that year. Well mom has passed on now but I never saw my turkey coasters again-maybe she gave them away or they wore out, I’m not sure. Anyway, I began a search on line for a similiar pattern and now have a real collection of turkey patterns all of which I would love to do. I know I won’t have them in time for this year but hopefully next Thanksgiving will be turkey-ful. As far as Christmas, I am busy doing gifts but not really decorations. I have seen some really cute santas and may give them a try if I can get my gifts done in time and I have a lovely garland design of snowflakes in my to do pile as well.
would love to see some crochet patterns for the Thanksgiving Table- like placemats, table runners, or even some interesting center pieces. Also for Christmas.
For years I have collected patterns for small Thanksgiving “ornaments” Love the look of crocheted turkeys, and since I don’t eat them, it is a special honor to the poor Toms who do not survive the holiday. Better a crocheted turkey that a cooked one.
I am working on a tree for each holiday. I purchased a beautiful artificial tree on sale, and plan to put it up in my house in Mexico (I am moving in 36 months) and leave the tree up, simply changing the theme for each holiday.

Hey, guys, there is a pattern for a nativity in the current issue of Crochet World magazine. You can see it by going to crochet-world.com. I have an electronic subscription, but they will sell individual issues at the web site…or the issue is currently on sale at places like Hobby Lobby, etc.
I would love to crochet some ‘turkeys’ for Thanksgiving…only problem is that living in Canada we celebrate Thanksgiving in October (before Halloween) so I miss out on the turkeys and go straight to the pumpkins!
