Do All Crocheters Have Cats?
By Rachel Choi – 255 Comments| I always thought that the correlation between crocheters and cats was just a myth, until I started to realize that a lot of my crochet friends have cats. Even I have a cat!
Is it just a coincide or do most crocheters have a cat? Maybe cats are just popular to have as a pet. Or perhaps, crocheters are more fond of a cat companion since they both like yarn. |

Let’s have an experiment to find out once and for all if there really is a correlation between cats and crocheters! This is by far, not a real scientific experiment, but will sure be fun to take part in.
So the question is, are you a crocheter? And do you have a cat? Leave a comment to share!
I do have two cats – Frodo and Tiger lily! BUT, i have two adored dogs too….. dont know what that does to the theory! 🙂
I would love to have a cat, but unfortunately I cannot. 🙁 I do have an Italian Greyhound and she is almost like a cat! If you can say that about a dog! 🙂
I’m an 14-year-old crochet/knitter, but I don’t have a cat. :C
I probably WOULD have one, but my dad’s allergic. Also, I have enough trouble keeping control of myself, much less a cat.
No cats but 2 sometimes cuddly chihuahuas. They’ll be off playing on their own but as soon as I sit down to crochet one or both of them are in my lap!

I have 3 cats. My fiancee has 4. Fortunately when we move in together they’ll be staying w/our respective parents because 7 cats would be ridiculous. Although we’ve already agreed to be a 2 cat, 1 dog family when we marry. (My fiancee loves dogs and cats almost equally, I love cats and like dogs. Personally, I want another parrot. I miss my parrots and parakeets. It’d be cute to have a mitred or blue crown conure just chillin’ on my shoulder while I crochet)
I have 3 cats and only one of them attacks my wool… can’t leave any projects out or he will attack them and drag them all over the house.

I have 2 cats. Fortunately, only one, Church, is mildly interested in the yarn on occaision. The other little diva, Samantha Jane, sits and watches like she is learning. They are my babies!!!
hi i am 12 years old. i love to crochet and i have 2 cats. personaly i like cats more than dogs. dogs are just too jumpy, playful and in your face. i have 2 dogs, but i dont play with them. their my brothers problems. when theyre out they want to lick me.
Yep, I have cats..two. I also have a bearded dragon, not sure how that effects the statistics. ;o)

I crochet/knit/all sorts of other crafty stuff. I also have 4 cat’s! I would probably have some dogs too if my apartment were big enough. 🙂
I have had cats since I was 18. I have also been crocheting since I was 18. Hmmmm…. maybe there is a correlation!

I just have 1 dog (who does tend to be very interested in my yarn), though I would DEFINITELY have a cat if my hubby weren’t allergic!
Three cats, two (very small yappy) dogs and three hamsters. But, even if I never own dogs again, there will always be a cat or two. I think they add to the soothing atmosphere that goes with crocheting.
I have two cats, Kitch and Minerva:) They both love yarn, and I often have a hard time keeping it away from them.
I have 2 cats and 1 dog (Lab/Border Collie Mix) that thinks she is as small as the cats 🙂
I have 5 cats, only one of which seems interested in my crocheting lol. The other 4 couldn’t care less unless I drag the yarn in front of them across the floor, but my cat Gypsy will jump on the couch right next to me and will wait patiently until the yarn moves then she attacks the yarn every-time I pull a little from the skein.
No cats, No dogs, not even a fish. But if we were to have an animal it would be a Australian Mist (breed of cat).

I crochet and have 5 cats. Friend who also crochets has 3 or 4 cats. Her daughter who crochets has 1 cat. No dogs in sight.

I’m a crocheter and have no cat/s. We have a dog though, and two aquatic frogs [used to have fish before all of those]. My mom crochets and she has no pets.
One cat. One BIG cat. Despite the five-year old pleading for our cat to have a friend, his daddy says that our cat will remain an only cat!
I have 3 currently and have had as many as 11. I have been crocheting for the last 32 years and we always had cats when I was growing up. My 3 boys (kitties that is) love yarn as much as I do and I go to the dollar store and get them their own special stash to play with :).

No cats – I am more a dog-type, but with 3 young kids, life is pretty hectic already so we don’t want any barking animals at home. Maybe we’ll go for a rabbit when the kids are older.
I have a cat and a dog. I’ve had cats my whole life, but the puppy was a birthday present. They both get into my yarn stash. It’s hard to know who to scold!

I got my first cat when I was in kindergarten. I’ve had cats ever since, and I learned how to crochet when I was in elementary school. I currently have 2 Sealpoint Siamese cats, 4 year old brothers from the same litter. You wouldn’t know they’re brother because one is dark and one is light and they both have very different personalities. Casper, the light colored one, LOVES it when I crochet. He always has to be on my lap underneath whatever it is that I’m crocheting.
No cats here…I am not a cat fan to be honest. We have 2 parakeets but have had guinea pigs & a dog…would get another dog again in a heartbeat but my youngest (almost 4) is deathly afraid of dogs so we will wait till she’s not! 😉 I’m an avid crocheter & work on my projects everyday (unless I’m sick! or one of the kids is sick & needs me).

I have always had a cat and I don’t think I could ever live without one. I think there is a definite connection between crocheters and cats.
I have one ragdoll cat named Diva, who rather enjoys my creations whether I want her to or not.
My daughter (two and a half) sometimes have to have a discussion with Diva on what belongs to her and what doesn’t. Pretty cute!
I’m severly allergic…but I’d probably have some if I weren’t! LOL

lol…I have 2 cats, Vincent who prefers Knitting and PD who prefers Crochet……oh, and the Oscar who prefers Crickets…lol
