Scarves aren’t just for the cold winter months. If you love scarves you can wear them all year around regardless of the weather. The key is to choose a scarf pattern that is light and airy for the warmer months and bulky and warm for the colder months. Scarves are wonderful for accessorizing and adding a pop of color and texture to an outfit.
But how many of us actually wear scarves in the spring and summer? Do you? Do you tend to only use them as a necessity during the cold winter months or do you actually love them so much you will wear them all year around? Share you thoughts in the comments below and see what others are saying!
P.S. Feel free to check out the crochet scarf page for patterns!

Do you remember the animal shaped pillows that used to be popular some years ago? I vaguely remember my brother having one growing up. They have made a comeback more recently, like everything always does, and you can buy them from various crafters today. While brainstorming a pattern for Easter, following the line of thought where bunnies and eggs were concerned, I began considering a way to adequately create a chocolate bunny. I started designing a 2D bunny form when I recalled these pillows and my design idea took on form.
This bunny-shaped pillow is crocheted just like a normal pillow, with two identical panels, but with extra shaping to create the bunny form. Before the panels are joined, the details like the face and arms are embroidered with simple embroidery and surface crochet. Joining the panels tops off the bunny shape with a few decreases in the indentions and increases at the tips. And for the finishing touch, a lovely floral ribbon bow!
Give a more lasting gift this Easter of homemade quality, and simultaneously bring back a little bit of vintage!

Recycle your plastic grocery bags by cutting and tying them into plarn (plastic yarn) and crocheting a brand new tote bag! This pattern uses about 50 average sized grocery bags. The pattern is worked in the round from the bottom up, including the handles, with no sewing required. The stitch pattern is solid on the very bottom of the bag and changes to a shell stitch mesh pattern for the body. The plarn material is sturdy and does not stretch like traditional yarn, making it perfect for crochet bags.

Recently we discussed different charities that we all crochet for, and one of the activities mentioned was crocheting plarn (plastic yarn) mats for the homeless. So I wanted to share this fantastic video that I came across where prisoners crocheted plastic mats for the homeless as well.
If you are interested in using up your grocery bags to crochet mats for the homeless, feel free to check out our free plarn tutorial to get started creating your plastic strips. Once you have your plarn made, you can crochet single or even double crochet rows to create your mat!

A Tunisian crochet hat that isn’t seamed and doesn’t require a double-ended hook and use of multiple balls of yarn at a time? Yes, please! The eyelet pattern is sandwiched between sections of Tunisian simple stitch, making it a cinch to follow if you know the techniques.
You will want to be comfortable with Tunisian crochet and crochet in the round, so you can follow the pattern. For extra help with Tunisian crochet in the round, see the tutorial. |
