Crochet Pattern: Chihuahua Ears Headband

By Caissa "Cami" McClinton – October 13th, 2016 Be the first to comment
While this may be a controversial position, I believe the chihuahua is both the cutest and mightiest of dogs! I am excited to share the love by designing this cute chihuahua ears headband. The ears are constructed separately and then affixed to a store-bought, plastic headband. This could be the beginning of an easy Halloween costume.

Finished Size: Each ear measures 3″ (8 cm) wide, 3″ (8 cm) tall

Crochet Pattern: Lackadaisy Slouchy Hat

By Candace – October 11th, 2016 Be the first to comment
Here’s a pattern that’s great for both simple and busy colorways. If you’re like me and love the speckled colorways that are popular now, you’ve been looking for the perfect pattern to use it on. Such a busy yarn would swallow anything too complicated, so keep it simple with alternating ridges. The hat has a slightly slouchy fit that can be adjusted by adding to or subtracting from the the height of the plain double crochet section. crochet_lackdaisy_hat

This crochet pattern was requested by a Crochet Spot reader!
Use this pumpkin bag as a cute table decoration or for toddlers and small children to trick or treat with. The pumpkin is designed with textured stitches to create a ridged look. It is crocheted seamlessly in the round, like a spiral. The handle and face are crocheted separately and then sewn onto the bag. Feel free to leave off the jack o’lantern face for a classic pumpkin or be creative and add your own face design.

How to Estimate Yarn Lengths

By Candace – October 4th, 2016 2 Comments

Now that I have a scale that measures small amounts, I can figure out how much yarn I’ve used and how much yarn I have left, and if you have one you can, too. It’s pretty easy, and it will help when it’s time to plan projects using unfinished skeins. It can also help if you’re breaking up a huge skein and winding it into more manageable balls. All you need is a kitchen scale and some basic math.

Kitchen scales can be pretty inexpensive. Even electronic ones can cost less than $10. Mechanical ones are even cheaper.

Crochet Pattern: Solid Chevron Placemat

By Rachel Choi – September 24th, 2016 Be the first to comment

Chevron patterns are all the rage, but sometimes you don’t feel like changing colors and having to weave in a lot of yarn ends into your crochet project. Although you can choose to crochet this pattern in stripes, like a traditional chevron pattern, all you need is a single, solid colored yarn to achieve the classic chevron look. Crochet a set of placemats for your next dinner party, family gathering for the holidays, or as a housewarming gift.
