This crochet pattern can be used to create square or rectangle placemats of any size by adjusting the number of stitches and rows. This stitch pattern creates a small, narrow basketweave look that looks great crocheted in any color. Crochet a whole set of placemats for your next dinner party!

My hair almost never feels tamed without a headband. It’s almost like my keys as far as being a necessity for leaving the house. A lot of crochet headbands are really wide–at least for my taste– and I wanted one that was less obtrusive with skinny ties to keep it on. And of course, I had to put a cable on it. |

Are you a people-pleaser? I think most of us can be, at least some of the time. Truly, the busy winter holidays are a time when we find ourselves pulled in many different directions. For the past few weeks I’ve given you ideas of gifts to give and make. I love this and I think it’s exciting, but at the same time, we can get wrapped up in doing all of this crafting for others and our beloved hobby can actually stress us out!
If we find ourselves creating mostly to please others, then maybe it’s time for a change or a break. Maybe we’re ready for some Crochet “Me Time!”

Here is a beanie pattern for the chevron lovers! This beanie crochet pattern contains 5 sizes ranging from baby to adult sizes, so you can crochet one for everyone in the family. Just measure the wear’s head and crochet the size that matches. The beanies are crocheted from the top down, so you can easily adjust the length of the hat if desired. This hat pattern can be crocheted for men or women. Feel free to use 2 or more colors to create the stripes.

Learning new crochet stitches may appear daunting at times but often, once you unravel the wordy instructions, it can be done with a flip of the wrist –or crochet hook.
A few months back I borrowed a crochet stitch book from my grandmother who has a whole library of wonderful crafting books. I’ve used it so many times for reference in designing my patterns, I am loath to return it. I believe every crocheter needs their own guide to crochet stitches. Understandably, many of us don’t have one, or can’t borrow one from their grandmother. That’s why we are here at Crochet Spot. To help you learn new things! |

My most recent fascination is the spike cluster stitch, abbreviated SPC. Keep reading for a step-by-step guide to how it’s done.

There are many reasons to have a small pouch on hand during this season. Fill it with a gift to give, decorate with it, or use it to put a few of your favorite Christmas CD’s to bring with you on trips, to name just a few. There is always something you can use a pouch for. The stitch used is called the Spike Cluster and works into many of the previous rows to give it the perfect flourish. Though it may look daunting it is truly an easy and fun stitch. So give it a try. You can’t have too many bags! |

Sometimes crochet is precious. And often it is useful. In my opinion, even if it is precious, it should still be used.

Here is a scarf pattern for the chevron lovers! This scarf is designed with a sharp, solid, chevron stitch pattern. The infinity scarf is a generous loop that can be worn flat, or wrapped around the neck two times to create a thick cowl look. Feel free to adjust the length of the scarf by adding or subtracting more rows as you see fit. Choose two or as many colors as desired to create the stripes.

There are many themes at Christmas, mostly with color. Berry red and Christmas tree green, often times mixed with white are a more average theme. Then there are candy-colored themes, neon palettes, and some royal colors like deep purple and chocolate brown. But my particular favorite is the old-fashioned theme of dark reds and greens, with some browns thereabouts. Gives you a feeling of cherished Christmases from the past. That’s the same feeling I wanted to capture while designing this pattern. Old and cherished. This star ornament was made with simple stitches and a rustic cotton yarn. Very easy and fun! Merry Christmas everyone!
