From hoop earrings to bangles, even the simplest jewelry can help you stand out. This circle pendant makes a statement dangling from a delicate chain or string of beads, or you could make two and hang them from your ears. Use contrasting seed beads for a second pop of color. |

Hello, Crochet Spotters! Welcome to your first crochet design! Yes, I said your crochet design. Did that statement strike fear into your heart? Are you incredulous? Or excited?
Crochet pattern designers get a lot of respect from fellow yarn crafters. There is something impressive about knowing that someone has the creativity, knowledge, and skills to create something and put it out into the world. Although I haven’t yet designed here on Crochet Spot, I do have a pattern that is published in a popular crochet book and another that has been accepted for publication. When sharing that news with my yarn crafting friends, I’ve generally gotten one of two reactions – either “I could never do that” or “Hm. Maybe I could do that.”
Share the Love! Pin me! 🙂
Some people take to crochet design like a fish to water and others feel like a fish out of water when the topic of their possibly designing something comes up. I am here to tell you that all the little fishies can play in the pond. If you’ve crocheted, you are already a sort of designer. 🙂

When the cold season blows in we begin getting out the winter blankets and decorations. At my house, the tablecloth is changed from the autumn red to winter blue and adorned with snowflake placemats and a handpainted candle holder. Normally, we leave the autumn couch throw until spring but this year I am introducing this new afghan to the room. It has a wide range of blue tones from the yarn to the embroidered snowflakes, an exciting technique for the stripes, and tassels for the finishing touch. I had a lot of fun designing this throw and I’m hoping you will have just as much making it! |

Time’s a-ticking, people, and we’re careening our way toward the new year without slowing down. Now take a look at your gift-making list… Are you panicked yet?
Breathe. There are times when we all bite off a little more than we can chew. I’m here to tell you that you can still incorporate crochet into your gift giving without actually having to do the crocheting! Sounds great, right? Time’s a-ticking, so let’s go!

Hey, Crochet Spotters! Today I am excited to introduce you to one of my favorite crocheters and designers, Twinkie Chan! Twinkie Chan is a celebrated crochet designer who has created her niche by crocheting all things delicious and wearable! If you see someone wearing a pizza scarf, it’s most likely her design.
I’ve been following Twinkie since 2010 and I’ve learned that there are many exciting aspects to her career. She has been a successful seller on eBay, Etsy, and at craft fairs. She’s authored a popular pattern book and has another one in the works. She did a series of patterns for Michael’s and is currently featured on the website as a “Celebrity Crafter.” No doubt, all of this success is due to talent, focus, a lot of hard work.
One of the things I most admire about her is her focus within a well-defined niche. She’s really intent on creating adorable, food-related, crocheted wearables and items for adults. While that may perhaps sound somewhat limiting, it’s amazing to see how creative she gets within that category. One of the more surprising and certainly delightful works she has shared on her blog is a crocheted painting.

Here’s a great pattern for both keeping your ears warm this winter and stretching your crochet skills. Subtle cables twist at different points, and though they only show on one side, the cables are actually worked on both the right and wrong side. The circumference of the ear warmer can be adjusted by crocheting more of less rows as needed. |

With the arrival of autumn, I thought how fitting it would be to work up something chunky. So I made a list of all the items I could think of off the top of my head that would make fast and fun projects. Here is the first one, an easy cap pattern. With your choice of chunky yarn and a large hook, simply follow some of the basic steps of crocheting for a quick hat to keep out the impending cold. You can’t make just one, though! Don’t forget that these will make great gifts for friends and family. |

Ever get lost in thought while dipping and diving through all of the beautiful inspiration on Pinterest? You have? 🙂 Of course you have! This post is inspired by the never-ending stream of visual stimulation that is Pinterest.
For whatever reason, my Pinterest feed is exploding with tons of gift wrapping ideas right now. There also seems to be a trend with giving food items like cookies, cupcakes, and candies. Well, I am fully in favor of that! Since I feel the need to put my own stamp on things, I decided to combine (what else?) Crochet and Candy!!
Sharing is caring! Add me to Pinterest!
