Soldier’s Angels
By Rachel Choi – 5 CommentsI recently received an email from a Crochet Spot reader telling me about a non-profit organization called Soldier’s Angels. Her passion for the organization was so infectious that I had to write a post about it and share it with you all. Soldiers’ Angels is a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit with hundreds of thousands of volunteers providing aid and comfort to the men and women of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, veterans and their families.
Through Soldier’s Angels crocheters like us can create and send items that are needed. There is a wide range of items that are accepted, not all are necessarily crocheted items, from blankets, snacks and goodies, t-shirts, CD’s, etc. Feel free to visit their site for the whole list! The most interesting part of the organization is that you can “adopt a soldier”, meaning you’ll send a letter each week and a care package each month to a particular person. How great is that?
To get involved or to lean more about Soldier’s Angels please visit the Soldier’s Angels website. You can also find more charities that you may be interested in on the Crochet Spot Charity Page.
Have fun crocheting for a good cause!!
I absolutely <3 the soldiers angels organization!!!!
met one of my greatest online friends when she adopted my husband while he was deployed!!!
I've been adopting soldiers of my own ever since!!!
I checked their webiste, I can’t find a list of things to donate. Bad first impression, no donations.
FYI: I joined “Angels For Hope” a few years ago as I wanted to help them make the crocheted angels and butterflies. On receipt of the butterfly pattern, I was unable to follow their directions (I don’t do well following charts, but could have done it with written instructions.) I was told in the beginning NOT to share the pattern with ANYONE. When I canceled my membership, they said to destroy the pattern. So, I don’t believe their patterns will be found on their web site.
The butterflies and angels are really nice….I requested an “angel” when my father was dying of acute leukemia and they sent a few to him.
I found it easy. here is the link if you have not found it yet. http://soldiersangels.org/donating-items.html
Yay, I’m an approved Angel @ Soldiers’ Angels. What a great organization this is. I love crocheting, so what a great way to share!
