“Professional Auntie” Goes Baby Crochet Crazy!

Posted in Fun Ramblings on August 19th, 2014 by Caissa "Cami" McClinton – 3 Comments

I am a “professional auntie!” This means I have a huge number of nieces and nephews (at least a Baker’s Dozen), and I’m not actually related to any of them! It’s great being a professional auntie who crochets because if I ever feel the need to impulse crochet something cuter than cute I have an instant reason to do so!

Look! I found a baby-friend!

Crochet Pattern: Teddy Bear Applique

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on March 6th, 2013 by Emilee Gettle – 2 Comments
Each week my five year old daughter watches me create a project for Crochet Spot. Oftentimes she is the source of my inspiration. For a couple weeks now she has been begging me to crochet a teddy bear for her. Any kind of teddy bear was her request. So, this week I made this appliqué to add to one of her shirts. She has already put in another request for a pink one next time. This pattern is really easy and can be adjusted several ways. You can change the muzzle color to a slightly darker or lighter shade, add beads or french knots for the eyes. Have fun! You can also find more applique patterns in the Applique Section!

Crochet Pattern: Leprechaun Top Hat Applique

Posted in Free Crochet Patterns on February 20th, 2013 by Emilee Gettle – 2 Comments
I have always loved St. Patrick’s Day. My mom would make corned beef, sauerkraut, and all the traditional foods for our American way of celebrating our Irish heritage. While the food was delicious it was also a milestone in the year, which meant spring was right around the corner! After a long winter I was always more than ready to see my tulips again. This week I created this Leprechaun Top Hat Appliqué so you can start embellishing your linens or making pins for your friends. This is also a great project for adding a “touch of Irish” to kid’s clothes or hair accessories.

Our produce is finally starting to slow down in our massive gardens. Looking back, one of our most prolific crops was eggplant! It is one of my husband’s favorite vegetables. It takes a bit of creativity to come up with new recipes to use up our bountiful harvest. Thankfully he never seems to tire of the cooking experiments! This week, since I have so much inspiration around me, I decided to create this eggplant play food pattern just for the fun of it! It is a great scrap saver project. If you choose to use wool yarn you could even felt the eggplant. Have fun!

I really love quilting. Mixing and matching all my favorite fabrics together to make something beautiful is so rewarding. So, the thought occurred to me, why not use my favorite quilt patterns for crochet patterns? This week I made a bow tie quilt block pattern for you to enjoy. You could make this block into something special for a baby with all the beautiful baby yarn available. You don’t have to break the budget either; it’s a great way to use up scrap yarn. Make several blocks with different colored bowties to create an afghan.

I scream you scream we all scream for ice cream! Who can resist a frosty scoop of homemade strawberry ice cream atop a crispy, crunchy ice cream cone? Sounds pretty good to me right about now. This sweet project whips up in no time and can be used so many ways. You can sew this fat-free cone on a little girl’s dress or a baby’s blanket. You could stitch two together to make a little pouch for candies. Make several and sew them together to make a darling light scarf. You can also switch up the flavor appeal by changing the colors of the cones crowing glory.
