What’s Your Favorite Yarn Brand?
By Rachel Choi – 59 CommentsI was recently asked by a reader, what my favorite yarn was and it was a pretty hard question for me to answer. For me it all depends on the material I’m looking to use. For instance, I use acrylic a lot for everyday things, so my favorite acrylic yarn is Caron Simply Soft. I love the softness, the colors, plus it’s a decent price for what you get. My favorite novelty yarn is Sensation’s Boucle yarn (this yarn is soft too), although I hated it the first time I tried to crochet with it. |
I think I’m starting to realize that I’m a sucker for all the “soft” yarns no matter what the material is, because when I first started crocheting I used a lot of cheap Red Heart yarn, and that stuff is rough (the opposite of soft). I must admit that there’s tons of yarns that I haven’t tried yet, so I bet that my favorite yarns will constantly be changing.
Do you have a favorite brand of yarn?
Thank You very much. I have a feeling I will be snowed in at work tonight, so will do a search and take my yarn and hooks with me. Middle of the night would be a good time to practice. lol
You talk about soft yarn… that is why I love baby yarn so much. It’s so soft! I’ve made several baby afghans for family members, co-workers and friends. I love a lot of the Lion Brand yarns. There are a lot of really cool patterns there. I love your blog, Rachel. It’s so fun to follow along with your thoughts, patterns, and comments.
My favorite (currently) is the Sugar’n Cream Scents. It’s so pleasant to have the aroma of lavender while I am crocheting. The only downside is that the scent fades when you wash it.
My favorite yarn is Red Heart Super Saver
Mostly any 4 ply on sale. Vanna works up very nicely and is soft.
I have two favorites that I use for different things. I like to make stuffed animals and toy, and I use I Love This Yarn, from Hobby Lobby. It works up nicely, and I like that I can tear it out if I need to. Some other brands I’ve used don’t come out very well. It’s not super soft, but it’s not really rough like Red Heart, so I think it’s perfect for toys.
For blankets and things I like to use Yarn Bee Soft Secret, also from Hobby Lobby. It’s kind of like Caron Simply Soft. I love the rich colors, and its soo soft! I’ve read other reviews that said they had trouble with a lot of knots in the skeins, but I’ve never had this problem.
My favorite is I Love This Yarn.
I’m trying to find a pattern for Jumping Knot Stitch. I’m not understanding the one I have because of terminology “1 loose, 1 st in last of previous row, fixed in each stitch. It came from Karin on the hook:Buttons Kisses. I don’t do graphs or tutorials, just patterns.
Appreciate your help.
My favorite brand is Cascade, followed closely by Stylecraft for their DK cotton.
